PPCA Breeder Referral
DISCLAIMER - The PPCA provides its Breeders List to help persons interested in obtaining a Portuguese Podengo from a breeder in the United States. Members of the PPCA Breeders List have agreed to be bound by the PPCA Code of Ethics, to perform certain health checks on their breeding stock and to include certain minimum elements in their purchase contract. However, the PPCA does not have the capability to monitor or regulate their breeding or their business practices, and does not become involved in resolving disputes between List members and their customers. Accordingly, PPCA cannot, and does not, guarantee or accept any responsibility for the health, temperament, or any other aspect of animals a buyer may purchase from a List member.
The Portuguese Podengo you take into your home will be a member of your family for many years. A responsible breeder will take the time to try to match you with an animal suitable for you and your family and to provide you with the information you need to have a happy, healthy pet. PPCA strongly recommends that you take the time to visit some dog shows where Portuguese Podengos are being shown, to meet and get to know a number of breeders, and to otherwise become knowledgeable about the breed before buying a Portuguese Podengo.
PPCA strongly encourages all buyers to carefully document, in writing, all representations, promises, statements, warranties and guarantees made by sellers of puppies and older dogs. The seller should sign such documentation.
This is all for the protection of the Podengo puppy/adult and its prospective owner. So, ask the breeder if s/he is a PPCA-certified breeder, that is the first step in finding a happy, healthy puppy!

The PPCA is interested in the integrity of its Breeders List and welcomes comments and feedback (whether positive or negative) from anyone who contacts the members listed. Please be as specific as possible. Send your compliments or complaints to the PPCA Breeder Referral Coordinator, whose name and address is found below.
