The Portuguese Podengo Pequeno was one of two rare breeds spotlighted October 20, 2010 at the Metropolitan Dog Club (MDC) monthly program held at the Illustration House Gallery in New York. In MDC's informal and intimate setting, the Podengo Pequeno made "up close & personal" introductions.
The Portuguese Podengo Pequeno is an ancient hunting breed traced to the Phoenicians, which later served as traveling companions of explorers including Magellan and Vasco da Gama. These adorable dogs have smooth or wire coats, and are the foundation for several other Mediterranean Hounds.
