PPPCA Breed Seminars, Meet the Breed AKC Matches & National PPPCA Specialties
PPPCA has engaged in more than 250 breed education and promotion events since its founding in 2003. PPPCA's first breed education seminars took place in 2006 at the Newtown Kennel Club in Connecticut and the Hudson River Valley Hound Association in Kingston, New York. PPPCA seminars have included PowerPoint presentations, distribution of CDs and DVDs and hard copy materials, and hands-on learning with both smooth and wire coat Podengo Pequenos.
PPPCA has hosted seminars for judges, members and others at its annual specialty shows with presenters including:

Kenilworth Kennel Club Match, Guilford, CT May 25, 2008. PPPCA Podengo education table and hands-on demonstrations. Hound Judge: Patrick Glover. BIM Judge: Madeleine Fish. 12 Podengos exhibited in "B-OB" Match, all owned by PPPCA members: 5 Podengo Medios and 7 Podengo Pequenos.
AKC Canine Experience " AKC Sanctioned Plan B Match. Bay Shore, NY July 27, 2008. PPPCA was co-sponsor with the Pug Club of Greater NY, Brookhaven Kennel Club, Pekingese Club of NJ, Empire Miniature Pinscher Club, Siberian Husky Club of Greater NY, Union County Kennel Club, and Queensboro Kennel Club. Exhibition of Portuguese Podengos in Sanction "B" Match. Hound Judge: Mrs. Linda Berberich (AKC Judge) NJ. 6 Podengo Pequenos owned by PPPCA members exhibited in Match. Participation in this event fulfilled PPPCA's requirement by AKC Public Education for a Sanctioned B Match.

PPPCA had a Podengo Pequeno education table and hands-on demonstrations at the Kenilworth Kennel Club Match in Guilford, CT on May 7, 2009, along with the exhibition of Podengos in its "B-OB" Match, with Podengo Pequenos coming from throughout New England and the Eastern Seaboard.

A.K.C. Sanction B OB & All Breed Match AKC Sanctioned B Match. 14 Podengo Pequenos exhibited, all owned by PPPCA members
PPPCA 7th National Specialty, held July 4, 2009 in Enfield, Connecticut. During the four days preceding the PPPCA specialty, Podengo Pequenos participated at AKC Companion events at the nearby Yankee Classic at the Big E. This Specialty had the greatest attendance of any Podengo Pequeno specialty in the United States at that time. The event included a PowerPoint presentation of the Breed Standard at the Annual Meeting. This was presented in the same manner as PPPCA s seminar at the AKC Louisville Cluster in March 2008, except that a larger audience of judges, prospective judges, breeders and exhibitors participated. FCI Judge Luis Gorjao Henriques conducted a popular in-depth, hands-on after-show clinic.
On September 12, 2009, the Kenilworth Kennel Club of Connecticut hosted the AKC-sponsored Responsible Dog Ownership Day on the historic Guilford Green. Podengo Pequenos owned by PPPCA members came from throughout the region and were very popular, especially with young families.
At AKC Meet the Breeds at the Javits Center in New York October 17-18 2009, the PPPCA had one of the most popular booths and visitors met six happy little Podengos and watched a Podengo slide show. Many thousands of pieces of literature and stickies were handed out at this popular event.
On October 24 and 25 at the 2009 Showcase of AKC Breeds at the Connecticut Expo Center in Hartford, PPPCA had an educational display for this annual highly popular regional event. PPPCA's description of the Portuguese Podengo Pequeno was used during the Hound Group introduction, where an attentive audience cheered on our jaunty little Podengos. PPPCA also participated in this event in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008.
The Framingham District Kennel Club hosted an AKC B Match on November 3, 2009 in Fitchburg and Podengo Pequenos owned by PPPCA members participated.
PPPCA conducted a Judges Education Seminar at the Framingham District Kennel Club in Fitchburg, MA on November 7, 2009. Kip Bergstrom and Susan Rexford presented and a number of PPPCA members were on hand with their Podengo Pequenos for hands-on learning.
May 30, 2010. In Guilford, the Kenilworth Kennel Club of Connecticut sponsored an AKC Sanction B Match and six Podengo Pequenos exhibited, all owned by PPPCA members, one of who wins Best Rare Breed.
On June 12, 2010, the Portuguese Podengo Pequeno was presented at a Meet the Breed event sponsored by the Greenwich Kennel Club in Norwalk, Connecticut. Five Podengo Pequenos participated and were very popular.
July 17, 2010. AKC B Match in Essex Junction, Vermont, sponsored by the Champlain Valley Kennel Club, Inc. 5 Podengo Pequenos participated, all owned by PPPCA members.
On July 24, 2010 in Cincinnati, Ohio, PPPCA's 8th National Portuguese Podengo Pequeno National Specialty took place. This is to date the largest show of Podengo Pequenos in the USA with 40 PPP attending. Daylong ringside mentoring and a well-attended judge education seminar were featured components of the PPPCA Education Program.
