"Prepare To Be Enchanted" was the theme of the 2008 PPCA National Specialty in Simpsonville, KY on Friday, March 14. And enchanted we were...not just the two dozen PPCA members and their Podengos who gathered at the Specialty and the Annual meeting on the 14th, but also the 20 AKC hound judges who attended a seminar on Saturday the 15th on the Portuguese Podengo by Carla Molinari, our specialty judge and the President of the Portuguese Kennel Club.
The seminar was held at the Louisville Cluster, the largest AKC event in the country, and included a hands-on presentation of the winners of the Specialty.
The Specialty was conducted according to AKC show rules, and this was the first time the PPCA put on a Specialty independently, managing all of the costs and the organizational details. In the past, we have always partnered with one of the rare breed clubs, who did most of the work. Many thanks from everyone at PPCA to Suzanne Faria, the Specialty Chair, for pulling off such a successful event.
