On May 25, 2008, the Kenilworth Kennel Club of Connecticut hosted the first AKC Match where Portuguese Podengos could earn points towards a PPPCA championship.
An educational area was visited by exhibitors, judges and spectators and proved to be very popular. The Podengos themselves were delightful meeters and greeters and their people had great fun. It was a sunny day and a happy one.
Little Eulalia do Porto Novo, the youngest entrant at just six months, started the wins with 4th in Puppy Sweepstakes, 1st Puppy Pequeno and third in the Podengo Puppy Group. Second in this group was Gringo da Flor D'Esteva. Parrigi's Castanha de Vale won Best Jr. Puppy. Sericaia do Vale Negro won Winners Bitch and Cacau de Viamonte won Winners Dog and Best of Winners.
Lineup for the females was (1) (Winners Bitch) Sericaia do Vale Negro (2) Vaidosa do Vale do Poco (3) Coimbra do Vale de Linhos. (4) Castanha de Viamonte. Lineup for the males was (1) (Winners Dog)Cacau de Viamonte (2) Zangao de Viamonte (3) Bacalhau de Viamonte (4) Fenomono do Vale do Poco.
